Bangladesh is a land of river. So it is very easy to enjoy a journey by boat here. To me a journey by boat is very pleasant, interesting, exciting & enjoyable in our country.
During the last autumn vacation my father asked me to go to my sister’s house at Barishal. So, I got a chance to make a journey by boat. Two other friends joined me. We hired a fine boat. We started our journey from Dhaka Ferighat at 10 am. There were two boatmen. The sky was clear. The river was calm & full to the brim. At first the boatmen plied the boat with oars. Then they set sail. Soon the boat began to move fast. The boat began to dance with the waves. The boatmen were singing. It was a ‘Bhatiali’ song. It filled us with joy.
We enjoyed the scenery of the river. We saw many boats, steamers & launches in the river. Fishermen were catching fish in the river. There were green fields on both sides of the river. Boys & girls were swimming. Cattle were grazing there.
At about 4 pm we reached my sister’s house. She received us cordially. It was the most memorable journey in my life.
